What is an indeterminate tomato?
Most of the tomato varieties grown by home gardeners are considered indeterminate varieties, or vining tomatoes. They continue growing and setting fruit throughout the growing season.

What is a determinate tomato variety?
Determinate tomato varieties tend to reach a fixed height and stop growing to set fruit for one large crop, usually ripening over a 1 to 2 week period.
